brake light issue 200 1988

quick question, I have seen that it matters on the brake lights what color bulb holder goes where, I have one white one and all others black, is this the normal configuration, and if so where does the white one go, I think that might be causing my issue...mine is on the driver side...my brake lights seem to be on (like pressing the brakes, just lower ones), when the headlights are on, 3rd brake light always works like it should...the bulb indicator randomly flashes

brake light issue......white on the right 200 1988

Installing the lower outer (brake & tail) bulb holders with black on the right will creat the symptoms you have. Just swap them back.

The situation that makes for this is the same design change brought us the 3rd brake light and rear fog light and that makes 240 tail lights from 1985 or older not work in the 1986+ cars without some careful adjustments and back-yard-engineering. BTDT

    Good Luck,

    Bob
