boring a b230 .60 over and using a chrysler 318 piston 700 1986

Heard you can bore a b230f engine .60 over and use a 318 piston- anyone have more info on this? What rod do I use, etc. Do I change anything else, i.e. the computer?

If you are looking to increase power of a B230F, boring it out to a larger displacement is the last step to consider, not the first. Start with a VX cam, K&N air filter and free flow exhaust. This will do a lot to improve "breathing" and should result in a considerable power increase, probably more than you would get from the bigger pistons alone if everything else remains stock AND its simpler, quicker, easier and cheaper to do.

You should not have to do anything to the computer unless your modifications are extreme. It is capable of sensing the increased air flow and supplying the appropriate amount of fuel. At some point you might consider replacing the injectors with a set that flow more. Ford "brown tops" are a common swap for this.

vx cams for b230fs are not available from anywhere that speaks english-unless you know of a place. ebay seems devoid of them as well. I work for volvo, and unless you are talking about replacing the whole fresh air box with some kind of cold air setup(which I have never seen available as a kit), the K&N regular air filter swap for the volvo one has a negotiable power increase. I have a free flow exhaust, and have been looking for a vx cam- all to no avail. If you know where to get this stuff, let me know. I have just never seen it as a kit.

I would not proceed with such a complex project based on something you heard. You would need to talk to someone who actually did it (if it's true). I doubt anyone here would know about it.
May I ask a question....why?
It would be a lot easier to swap in a turbo engine.

well, the deal is that our FTS at volvo, with like 30+ years said he had some friends that did this. Just wanted to check with you guys before I bug him- he's knida grouchy. Oh, and the point is that supposedly it gives it a ton of low end grunt. I drive the turbo volvos every day- just looking for something a bit different to play with, that's all.

I'm sure you don't mean 0.60!! That's over half an inch. Even 0.06 is alot.
