chassis # location? 120-130

Dumb Q admittedly, but where specifically do I find my chassis number??

The type number (223441 M) indicates I have a 67 wagon, but where do I find the elusive (to me) chassis number?

Apologies if this has been addressed before, but I searched and could not find a quick answer.

Thanks,

Richard

    chassis # location? 120-130 1967

On the firewall just below the hood seal, above the heater. Number for 1967
should start with something higher than 45999. 46000 was the first 1967 wagon.

It will be stamped into the firewall in this form:
    *223441 M (or VG) 47359*

It is on the VIN plate, second line "Ch. Nr."

Alternatively, look in the engine compartment on firewall etched into the air intake "chimney" just under the fresh-air intake cowl. It may have been painted over, but I've found it on my 67 and 68 amazons.

      Hello,

The actual VIN# is stamped into the body under the hood.

Early 122 have the VIN# stamped into the body on the firewall in the area in between the heater valve and heater box.

On later 122, the VIN# is stamped in the sheet metal area directly over the heater box.

In both cases, it might be necessary to get a wire brush to remove debris and possibly paint if the underhood has been repainted to be able to see the VIN#.

The ID plates screwed in place under the hood do not always have the correct numbers.

'66 and earlier Canadian models have no numbers stamped on them anywhere (I've just finished my under hood paint job, so I'm sure - trust me). The '67's have them stamped to the cowl vent above the heater box as described.

          Hello,

As I can not say that I have worked on any Canadian 122s, but every and I mean every 122s or Amazon that I have worked on, and I have worked on early 122s with a factory B16, had a VIN# stamped into them at 1 of the 2 areas that I have described.

How carefully did you look at the area between the heater valve and the heater box?

The number is stamped next to the heater box next to the spot where the lower heater hose connects.

            Thanks - got it!

I really appreciate the help - beers on me the next time we're all together!

PS - have a master cylinder Q and am starting a new thread.
