Flame Trap Relocation Kit Problem 200 1985

In March of this year, I purchased the Flame Trap Relocation Kit from IPD. I have no problems with them nor am I upset by the failure of the kit. This is just a heads-up to anyone who has one of these kits. The relocation hose (5/8" ID) split at the oil seperator, and caused the engine to puke oil all over the side of the engine and the garage floor. This hose has 2 Blue Stripes, and is identified as: VOLVO 949701 o14 1134 07W04 Sweden.

As I said, I'm not whizzed at the guys at IPD, and in fact I contacted them to let them know of the problem, and that I had replaced the hose with one purchased locally, and am not expecting a replacement hose, nor any compensation. I'm just letting everyone who has one know of the weak hose that you may have.

Wow that sucks! Good luck cleaning that side of the engine. I would make it a project and replace the oil separator box and o-ring(s) as well, but you probably already have

I think my dad, who is a chemical engineer, told me once that antifreeze (I forget if it was ethylene glycol or propylene glycol) will help remove oil from concrete.... or was it his shoes? I forget, good luck all the same and thanks for the heads up.

If you can get it TetraEthylene Glycol will take virtually everything off of anything :-) I have a good supply of concrete cleaner. My neighbor used to sell Amway products, and that is one thing that they sold that really works.

Thanks for the heads up, Bill. I installed mine about a month ago and I'll keep a close watch.

As I said, mine split where it installs on the seperator box. I lightly pulled on the hose and it came right off, and I immediately knew that something was wrong. I had to use a dowell to install mine originally, so it should have not been that loose. It's not a tight fit, just snug, and it's a long way down there to try and hit it with just the hose.

I first removed the IAC and was able to massage the hose by hand onto the breather box. Nice snug fit. No dowel trick.
