I am going through the options with my long delayed PV project, I'd like to use the standard steel air filter seen in the photo but I don't think it will fit, the photo shows a 2in SU but I could use a HS6, does anyone have any photo's of a single SU on a PV

    Hi,Ive got the single Zenith-Stromberg sidedraft (175 CD) on my 67 210.Works great with no problems. All I did was add a small plastic fuel filter between pump and carb. This was standard on the Late B-18A engines.Send me your Email and Ill forward pictures of my Engine if that will help.I cant figure out how to post pictures on the Brickboard.
    Whats with that Motor mount???

      Thanks for the photo John, now that I know it fits I'll set the car up for a single HS6 SU with the same air filter as yours.

    I agree with Derek...that is certainly not a factory setup, and it may be difficult to get to idle well...pix of single carb setups will likely only be of downdraft Zeniths or Solexes...I suppose a single HS6 would be OK...

    Standard fitting here would be a 175 Stromberg. The filter shown is for that carb. The last Duetts had a Stromberg. An SU would work but you'd have to find the correct needle etc. Airflow through a 2" SU likely to be too slow and unpredictable at low revs.
    I can remember seeing pics of this car on show at a NZ meeting a looooong time ago. I wondered how it was getting along. Perhaps you'd like to share info on the front suspension mods.

      2inch ( HS8 ) is off a Jaguar or Rover, if its not going to work then putting on a HS6 would be a lot easier. I'm getting back too this project after a long delay, or looooooong as you say, sold my Amazon, getting professional help with my Alfa race car, put the other two Alfa's in the corner and concentrating on the PV.
      Still unsure about state of tune, haven't got a cam yet but motor is 2150cc, standard head, choice is one SU/Stromberg/downdraft weber with low rev cam and skinny wheels and tyres or DCOE 40's with D cam ish and wider wheels and tyres.
      Car has front and rear 140 suspension and brakes, this pic shows the suspension a bit better.
      Got some front seats mocked up, very pleased , will put in another post.
