replacing blower motor - tested - no function pos. 1 & 2?? 200 1990

I'm using the dashboard removal method to get at the blower and doing complete R&R of Dashboard, Blower, Heat Adjuster Valve, Stereo, and maybe the cruise control (which I think is in there somewhere).

so I got down to the blower and put the new one in, new resistor, new switch turned it on and I only got blower function in positions 3 & 4?

nothing on 1 & 2, I'm gonna check to see if those positions are getting power after the switch, and I might try putting the old resistor back in...

but I thought I'd check here to see if anyone had any thoughts on what might be going on...

thanks!

Almost has to be the resistor pack or an issue in the switch. You can take your ohm meter and with the key off measure the resistance. Black to Brown should be 1.9 ohms, Brown to White .7 ohms (Black to White 2.6 ohms), and White to Red .2 ohms (Black to Red 2.8 ohms).

If you have those resistances it would almost have to be in the blower switch or something like the connector on the back is not plugged in well.

Regards,

Paul

Thanks,

I checked the resistor by rewiring the old resistor in for position 1 only and the new motor and new switch worked fine in pos. 1

Bad resistor from FCP Groton, I called them up and another one is on the way

I guess I'll work on something else like the heater valve now!
