I'm tired of poor Volvo documentation. Tired of this S90 S90-V90

I'm sick of this S90. I can never get decent documentation of how to fix anything. I can only hope some other pitiful looser has had the misfortune as me. My thanks goes out to all brickboard users who take the time to post, However next time I will buy Honda, Nissan, Chevy, Toyota, Dodge or anything that has a Factory service manual. I even prefer my 91 Pontiac to this 98 S90, I can keep it running forever because I have excellent factory documentation and an unending supply of new and used parts.
Pontiac factor manual is around $125
Full set Volvo manuals around $5000 (Price from the Volvo corporate site)

Yes, asking $5,000 for a complete set is just awful.

Perhaps you should sell the S90 and stick with the Pontiac. Maybe it will run forever, like a well-maintained Volvo.

One of the first things I bought after buying a 1979 245 was a few Volvo Service Manuals. They were maybe $15.00 each. Over the years I have bought a wiring diagrams book for every Volvo I have owned.

Not surprisingly, the price has risen. Most recently, the WDM book for my 1997 965 covers the 1997-98 960/S90/V90 and cost $64.45. It covers RHD and LHD models and contains 256 pages. The trouble-shooting book for electrical equipment was only $40.15, though it covers 700/900 cars from 1982 on.

Years back I bought a 1984 244 power antenna replacement mast. The instructions were in six languages. The instructions I have for my 1986 244 Cruise Control installation have only four languages: Swedish, English, Deutsch, and Francais.

This month I had to buy a new center console lid+cup holder+inner lid+storage box for the 965. The instructions have 11 languages: Swedish, English, Deutsch, Francais, Italiano, Espanol, Nederlands, Suomi, Norsk, Dansk, and Portugues.

What do you suppose your Pontiac book would be like if it covered LHD and RHD models in eleven languages?

I enjoy driving a world-class vehicle. You may not. If you do decide to sell the S90, how about you offer it on the Brickboard Classified first? Some of us already have the documentation and savvy to keep it running.

Regards,

Bob

I downloaded VADIS off the net. It is very good and works flawlessly. If you are familiar with torrent sites all the info you need is out there. I bought a VADIS off of EBAY but the one I D/L was a newer version so that is the one I use.
I own a 98 S90 and have no problems using VADIS.

which torrent site did you get it from? I use Limewire for my torrent downloads and mininova.com, but I can't seem to make it happen.

download this software and install to download the other files, you don`t need to start the program it will start automatic when you click the downloadlink and choose to save the file.

the vais program is HUGE an will take a lot of time to install, up to 1 hour. don`t restart the computer during that time, it`s nothing wrong it just take time.

I am not familiar with torrent. Did a search and then went to various sites, it all seems a bit flakey with a lot of porno content. Do you have to load some software first? Are the sites safe? Do we need to worry about viruses or junk ware getting on the computer?

You need to be internet savvy to cruise the torrents sites. There are lots of stuff that you do not need/want. If you know your way around torrents then you can safely navigate and get what you want. Otherwise be careful.

Yes you do! and I don`t think they are safe as they use your computer what you have downloaded so far to pass on to the next person or computer which is downloading the same programme. Also depending on how big the programme is that you want it will take hours so therefore you are on line forever. I get enough junk come down the line and i only go online for 2hrs a day. You takes your chance!! Also i have just remembered it will use your computer to pass on that programme whenever it wants. I wanted to stop it happening and the only way round was to remove the programme and what i had downloaded entirely. I made a disc before though. Hope this helps I am in England London

So sell it. If you need $5000 in documentation to keep that car running, the problem is probably not the car.

I only buy the sections of the green manual that I need. I now have several and I have purchased them over 10 years from Volvo and even eBay. Not bad at all. I have also used AllData as well.

You can get a bootleg VADIS disk on ebay for very little. Once you learn to use
it you'll find it is pretty good documentation for ANY newer Volvo.

Go with a vintage model volvo. 120/140/240?

They are easy to work on, have massive volumes of documentation, comparable (or better) fuel economy, cheap parts and turn a lot of heads.

Rust will be your only enemy.

Not sure why you would wish your "misfortune" on others.

Go to: www.alldatadiy.com/
Excellent documentation, $24.95 per year, 14.95 for 2nd car. I have it for both my V90 and S80. You do not even need to renew for a second or subsequent year, just print out what you think is needed.
