FCP GROTON 900

It's been a little while since I ordered from FCP Groton...have they updated their website? I believe I always used to use fcpgroton.com, but it was an old school, kinda hokey website but now it is all fancy like. I seem to remember that they had two websites for a while but the hokey one was the one with the better prices.

Am I just losing it, or did they change the site? Prices still good?

Thanks,
Ian

Hey, a little off topic; but a year or two ago I called them to find a gas tank for my 240 they told me they couldn't get one. I called a wholesale supplier who told me that I could buy one, but only through a operating business, so then I called FCP with the info and they discoeverd that they could in fact get and sell me a gas tank! I told them they should really add it to the site, but last time I checked they hadn't. Quite a bummer because all those people who log on looking for one just assume they can't get it. That's lame.

Yikes just checked their site and I have to say that I do not like it at all. I really liked being able to quickly browse by model. I dare say that one could get to the part quicker by selecting links rather than use the new drop down menu. Wish they would have kept the other option available.

Service and quality has always been good for me.

Yikes again, they used to have brass "torpedo" fuses listed for the 240 and earlier cars, but I can't even find them on the new site. Is it just me?

Been buying from FCPG for years now, lots and lots o' stuff. The service is good for the most part, but I would say that one out of four orders there is a part missing. Always cheerfully shipped out though. No question the new website gave them some problems. I also have it first hand that their system glitched recently and did not print complete orders, so there were a bunch of re-shipments that held them up. Again, handled with courtesy. As to the quality of the parts, I've never had an issue with the quality of anything they've sold me. However I have had two instances where my 100% organic PBR pads showed up as semi-metallic. They were unable to help me with this problem and blamed it on the supplier. The only glitch I've ever had, but they did refund the money. Now I get that one item elsewhere. Good people to do business with IMHO.

I've bought parts from FCP Groton for several years.
Always good service and prices.

Recently, I ordered a new OEM (that's what the ad says) fuel pump for a 92 940 with Rex/Regina.

When the pump arrived, it was a Scantec model.

I contacted Nick at FCP about the error, pump quality and warranty.
He said that he would look into it.
That was 4 weeks ago, and I haven't heard anything.

The reason that I ordered the pump was because I thought it was OEM.
I needed the car really bad so I went ahead and installed the Scantec pump.
So far so good, but I still have questions about the quality verses the OEM.

just my experience.

steve

ps...If you're ordering over $39(US) worth of parts, www.eEuroparts.com ships for free.
Their prices are competitive, but when you add free freight, they look really good.

I ordered the same pump several years ago (came in Scantech MFD in china) and the pump now has about 180k miles. Unless I am an exception I think this Scantech part may be okay.

I was in the same situation. In fact, worse. When I saw Scantech I ordered another pump from somewhere else and they shipped me a 'different' item. I called the MFR, whom I found on the item and looked up on the internet, and they told me the pump of theirs that I bought would work for a time but eventually would fail as it was a direct-fit, but lower capacity, and not the replacement I needed.

Sometimes I wonder if buying non-volvo parts is really worth it. ESPECIALLY when you factor in the time involved for procurement.

The "M" in OEM means a Manufacturer that makes (or once made) the OE part for Volvo. IMO it's an almost meaningless term these days.

ScanTech doesn't make anything, but repackages parts from many varying sources.

The best you can hope for is that your new pump was made by the same (or one time) manufacturer of the pump that Volvo boxes as "OE".

Still there, still great prices and selection, same great people and service. Extremely fast shipping and delivery. You can order by phone and speak to a real person who can answer any questions also.

Yep. Newer website... otherwise same great people, parts, service, and prices.

Standard shipping winds up on my door step in super rural Ohio only two days after I put in my order. No complaints from me!

Yes FCP have a new redesigned site. Last week I ordered something from them.

The new site takes a while to getting used to. There are some nice features though. There are some items on the old site that was not listed in the new one. I was looking the other day for the ignition wire clips and after an email to FCP they kindly added that on the site. I believe the new site will improve over time.

They do have the 'other' site which is foreigncarparts. I find this one useful to crosscheck with FCP as they have the same part #. For eg, there was 2 types of ignition wire clips listed on FCP. Different price and with no images. Cross referencing the parts on the 'other' site I quickly found out from the images they have on foreigncarparts what are the differences between these 2.

Can't comment on the price. I don't order from FCP that frequent. I'll let others chime in on that.
