tips for changing rear dust shields, please S90-V90 1998

Hi !

For whatever reason both rear dust shields in my wife´s V90 have badly rusted out and must be changed. How to do this ? Do I have to remove rear hubs also and is there a risk to break something ? I have changed front dust shields to my wife´s 740 and that was a really easy task but how is the case with V90 and multilink ?

Thanks in advantage

I attempted this job on my 97 964 and foond that the driveshaft, wheel bearings and spindle would likely need to be removed to change the rusted out pie pans.In the early stages of this tear down,I found all three brake cables and all of the parking brake components were rusted to junk.Faced with buying a fortune in parts and many hours of under-the -car labor,I lost my desire for parking brakes.I also felt the wheel bearings would not survive tear-down and re-assembly.Nothing else on this car was rusted.I did sell it.
    Good luck,Bill

I ain´t gonna sell my V90 for any price. I would like to do the job by myself but if that´s not possible I will get the car fixed anyway.
The cables are not rusted; the dust shields are the only problem.

Yeah, it seems that it is better to answer to that question myself,,,
If the dust shield is to be changed and you don´t want to cut it the rear hub MUST be removed first. But how to do this ? I removed the brake disk and opened the nut that holds the driveshaft but that was all I could do. How can I remove the hub ?? It seems to be very tight and I don´t want to destroy the bearing.

    Cheers,
    Jukka
