Replacement dimmer switch and gas gauge on my 122s 120-130

I found a replacement dimmer switch for under $2o for my 122s. My old one was shutting the lights off instead of dimming. It is Napa switch DS 155. Almost a direct fit with just slight elongating of mounting holes needed, and female terminals for the wiring.
I also found a universal sending unit for my gas tank. VDO-226001 at
Summit Racing. It is a little involved to customize, but the end result is an accurate and STEADY fuel gauge. Cost is less than $30 and the bolt holes are exactly the same. Complete instructions on how to set up are included.

Hi, I got the same fuel sender but have not yet installed. Care to share your experiences? Dimensions? Any information to guide me.

the Guage will come with a table that will give you the measurements. The switch will have to be at its absolute minimum height. This means removing one of the adjustmnet slides and cutting the other off to match the length of the sender. My Volvo tank was 6 1/2" deep. Of course the setup must be just slightly less than that. then the chart will tell you how long the arm needs to be. The arm will point to the left as you look at the tank, with the mounting holes lined up. If you need further help let me know.

It is quick and easy to put the dimmer on the column as the switch is already
in the turn signal switch and most of the wiring will reach. I think Ron Kwas'
site may have the instructions. All you need is the relay from a later model
    or a VW.
Then you don't have to worry about corrosion on the floor.

thats true, you can take the foot dimmer completely out and run the wiring to the stalk on the column. if you order(its free anyways) the 2007 IPD Vintage catalog, it explains exactly how to run all the wiring and everything. its on page 45.

Is this similar to the one on the 140's as I need to replace mine?

About the Fuel Level Sender... 120-130

Watching my gauge bob about and seeing the gauge drop dramatically between 1/2 and E I've been wondering if that VDO gauge might behave better.

How has performed for you? There are two versions of that gauge one "with flange" and one without. Which did you get?

The one I have is VDO-226001 from Summit Racing. It is 10-180 ohm resistance which is the same as the stock unit. You do not need a flange, it is a direct fit and has a new gasket. Instruction included for correct setup. My guage works very well and the hand on the guage never moves that you can see. Iam still on the first tank and it is at 1/2 full now as it should be with the mileage I have driven..I intend to fill it soon to see how much I have left at 1/4 tank.
