Fuse alternates I'm sure it has been talked about 200 1989

Sorry in advance. I just can't keep sifting through miles of Fuse Threads.

Obviously I can get the typical Volvo Ceramic fuse but is there an alternative Type to the open case ones that are OEM?

I thought about getting a pile of individual blade fuse holders, add a couple short wires to each, with a female connector on each end, slipped over the "tabs" in the fusebox. Not sure if there's enough room behind the cover.

Honestly, while pretty durn old school, with a good scrub with a wire brush, some good contact cleaner, fresh new fuses, and some electrical contact grease on each end, the original fuse box and fuses aren't that bad. Lasted a good 20 years so far. With a little TLC you can get more than a few years per 20 minutes of maintenance. Just make sure your windshield doesn't leak! :-)

Fuse alternates BUSS 200 1989

Buss has a line of Glass Euro spec fuses in the basic 8-16-25 Amp sizes both std and slow blow.

the only bitch is it is actually easier to tell if a ceramic fuse is blown than a glass one but the glass ones are more surface area at the contact and thus do not suffer from the corrosion issues the ceramic fuses have.

See my other post in this thread, Stoney. They quit making 'em a few years back.

My local NAPA has a bunch still in stock. My MB Dealer has them in exact same size as Volvo and they are a stock part. maybe not BUSS but possibly Hungarian TUNGSRAM or M/M out of italy.

Just cause you can't find them , does not mean they do not exist.

Ok, we actually agree on this. Ther does appear to be some dead stock on the BUSS fuses. And I never said *no one* was making glass fuses, I simply said BUSS wasn't.

My 240 has some glass-type fuses. They look exactly like the older-style BUSS fuses in older US cars except the end is pointed to match 240 (et al) stock ceramic fuses.

I assume only amps matter in a fuse; they're more durable for repeated in-outs; they work.

Is this what you're asking?

Now here's the bad news. Cooper/Bussman quit making the glass-and-stainless type GBC fuses a couple of years ago. Good luck finding any in dead stock. I'm glad I put in a HUGE stash before they quit :)

The good news is they can be found aplenty in junkyards. Check Volvo, older BMW, and older MB.

Yes - junkyards 200 1989

I'm partial to the brass/copper ones as opposed to the aluminum-looking ones.
I'm fine with the glass ones if that's your preference.

I harvest the brass/coper ones from junkyards. I have a bag full of 'em.

MB has them as a parts counter item at my local MB dealer. Diferent box (green plastic) maybe made by TUNGSRAM or M/M but they fit my MB just fine.
