In that case, Redline MTL is recommended.

Expensive Indeed But Worth It ...... 200

Yes indeed Redline MTL is quite expensive compared to type F . However it is so much better that I think it worth it. Also if for an M46 tranny you do not need a gallon. 2x quarts does it.

I'll be doing a full replacement as described here recently and i expect to use 8 to 9 quarts. I am aware the pan holds 2 quarts.

I was refering to using Redline MTL in an M46 manual shifting tranny not an AW auto tranny.

Dexron III synthetic is not that expensive 200 1991

"I'll be doing a full replacement as described here recently and i expect to use 8 to 9 quarts. I am aware the pan holds 2 quarts."

Your '91 245 does not use Type "F" ATF, which is the subject of this thread.

It uses Dexron III, at about $5 per quart for Mobil-1 synthetic.

Total AW70/71 capacity is about 7.5 quarts.

Flush-fill at the cooler (radiator fitting) is in the 700/900 FAQ.
