240 Drivers Side Mirror 200

Someone smashed my mirror on my 93 240 sedan. The control for the mirror is next to the parking brake (it is NOT the manual one with the adjustment knob mounted in the window).

Does anyone know where I can buy JUST the mirror (the motor still works)? I can not seem to find one that does not come with all of the other stuff like the motor.

Also, what years are compatible with my year?

thanx,
Kreg

Will a manual mirror fit? 200

Would you consider putting a manual one?

IS the whole assembly broken or just the glass part? Are they the same shape as the manual ones?

I may have a full Manual Assembly kicking around

Hi Tony,

I prefer the motor controlled one, but thank you for the offer. Since this car is the crown jewel in my Volvo fleet, I want to match the original stuff.

It sounds like swapping the mirror is not that easy. I may buy the whole unit from e-bay. I just wanted to check in here; the resources in BB are great. It really compliments the whole "Volvo value" concept very well.

Thanx again for the offer!!

Kreg

No problem... I do not like to Band-Aid things together either. That's why I fought with the Temperature gauge Compensation board a before finally jumping it out. I just wanted the car to stay the way it should be.

If you change your mind. Holla

If you get a boneyard replacement, remember that your mirror also has a heater element .... 200

If you choose to go to a pick-n-pull instead of the dealer, remember that you will want one with a heater element as well (my '93 has the heater, and I don't know whether it was an option or not).

Regards,

If your housing is still good, trace the shape of the other side mirror and any glass shop should be able to cut the mirror for a few bucks. Glue it on with silicone--put something against the mirror and hold it in place overnight with tape wrapped around.

I'd check out the dealer. I know I replaced one for a friend on an 05 XC-70 and the dealer sold it separately. It ran about $60 but included the heater, hopefully, the 240 mirror will be cheaper.

Beyond that, try the bone yard, it is quite easy to pop the mirror glass out assuming it is similar to a manual adjust mirror... double sided tape holds it to the carrier.

John,
Unless you've tried it before on a '93, I think you're mistaken about it being easy. Ive tried on many occasions to remove the mirror from my '93 power mirror with no luck. Following the instructions in a couple manuals and online I was never able to make it work; then I read a post where someone says that the late model power mirrors do not attach the same. I believe it. I think it was on T'Bricks that someone describes the process.

I've since removed the mirrors (motor was broken) and put on some stainless jobs from a late 70's model. I figured since I couldn't move my mirror without sticking my hand out the window, they may as well look good.

Sean:

Thanks for the info, I will keep that in mind the next time a power mirror question comes up. As I mentioned in my post... assuming it is similar to a 90 mirror... so thank you for setting the original poster and myself straight!
