960 intake manifold removed now question 900 1997

Hi all I have removed the inner and outer intake manifold due to a cracked gasket at cylinder #6. I am replacing all rubber runners and new oetikers. My question is does anyone clean the outer and inner before putting them back on. I'm talking about really cleaning all the passageways as in parts soaker or tub. I have lots of crud especially where the outer manifold joins the rubber sleeves. I'm also replacing the throttle body gasket as well. Thanks for your input.

    960 intake manifold removed now question 900 1997

    This seems to be a common problem with the 960 at about 120k miles; I didn't remove the rubber ducting as adviced by a dealer's mech. But, I would say if you have already done it and it is easy to accomplish, clean it out...can't hurt. While you are at it can you check the amount of carbon on the valve stems? I have often wondered how the valves do at 100k on this engine.
