follow up on air filters 120-130

So after all your advice, I think I'm going to go with the K&N filters. My question is, currently I've got a pair of the original paper filters on my SU-HS6s. When I bolt the K&Ns on there, am I going to have to adjust the carburettors in any way (because presumably that should increase the airflow a bit). Any thoughts?

No, there will be no difference in tuning at idle. But, a free flowing filter (or none at all) changes the pressure differential across the bridge of the carb at cruise speeds.

    Check out this page: http://www.teglerizer.com/mgstuff/a_stumble_at_cruise.htm

You can read the whole thing if you want but the important passage is at the bottom of the page, "A Final Resolution".

I suppose others may disagree, but I think you'll be fine. I certainly didn't change anything when I switched to the K&N's. If there is a difference in flow, it's probably only at high RPMs, and most people aren't tuning their SU's way up there. Furthermore, if you had to re-tune your carbs for K&N's, then I suppose you'd also have to re-tune your carbs every time you replaced a dirty paper filter with a fresh one, which I don't think anyone does.

Aha. That's a good point. I'm curious to see what the diff is between the paper filters and the K&N, what with all the crazed testimonials on their website ("My has 20 more horsepower!" etc, etc.)
