Removing fuel tank sender=pump unit? 200

Is the a trick to doing this? I too often seem to knock the float off or destroy the screen.

I just did this job on my 93. There was a description in the archives about how to get everything out that I kept in mind - it was something about twisting and sort of threading the whole works out in a big circle. Patience and a delicate touch may be important.

Hope this helps,

Ron

Thanks. I'll focus on that twisting next time. Should help. Now I just fiddle with it until it comes free.

Not to Hi-Jack Blue Horse's Thread... 200

"It's got a newer timing belt and was driven 10K miles after install so I'm ruling that out."

If the newer belt wasn't retensioned after 600 miles, it could be stretched enough to jump a cog or more at the crank sprocket. On my son's car it jumped enough to cause a total shut-down and no-start.

This happened after a quick deceleration from a good speed (so I'm told), leading to the theory that the sudden "unloading" of the loose belt allowed it to skip cogs at the point of least contact.

... and you should replace the screen ("sock') each time, anyway (it's cheap enough). N.M.I. 200

And I know that too but I never seem to have one around when I need to do the job. It's just not something I think of ordering in advance - like timing belts and throttle gaskets

Careful finigiling has worked for me. I don't think there is any other trick to it.

Thanks. I probably just need to make 2" wide piece of sheetmetal that will let me guide the sock out.

I always hate having to cut the hoses. Is there a way to do it without cutting or removing the hoses?
