Seat heater, beyond repair? 900

Here is a picture of the seat bottom heater in the 960. Looks burnt up at a corner. This probably isn't repairable, is it? If it were, would it last? Why would it burn up like this to begin with?

Scary. I think there have been a couple posts where there was some damage to the seats and more.

Where wires flex a lot, you will get a thin spot and the thin spot will glow red until it burn out like a light bulb while burning anything near it. Some would try to fix it but there could be other spots ready to glow red. I’d replace the heat pad.

Thanks - that's what I'd like to do. The part seems a little hard to come by though... no luck at all finding one online so far. There's a burned spot in the seat foam about half an inch deep x 2 inches long x not too wide. You don't notice it through the leather and it isn't burned, but I'm surprised the foam didn't ignite. The driver's seat heater was broken when we got the car 3 weeks ago.

It was a real pain to get at, not at all like in the FAQ. Lots of hog rings to cut. The seat was out anyway; I removed the interior this weekend except for the dash to clean it all up. I'd like to have this fixed before putting it all back together.
