84 Turbo, plenty of spark and will not start.

Nor sure here. It started before I did the exhaust work. I put new wires, cap, and plugs and I tested one of the plugs tonight with plenty of spark. I am really put aside on this one. The car was running fine before. I am at a total loss. Thanks for any help.

    Hi Roadside,
Take a close look at the wiring harness at the gray connectors up on the firewall underhood. Also look at the harness itself. One harness goes to the drivers side under the intake and another harness goes from the gray connector thru the firewall on the passenger side... very near the area whereyou were doing the exhaust work. These models are known for having biodegradeable wiring harnessees so look for bad, flaking insulation. The harness going thru on passenger side goes to a black box inside the cabin insde the passenger kick panel. I had one of these boxes go bad on me. But yours could be just the harness. Good luck. I would look in this area first since you were doing a lot of muscle work in the general area.

      CX,

The wiring harness was replaced in 1999. The car had been sitting for 2 years, maybe a fuel item had faltered.

        Hi Roadside,
I think you said that it ran b4 your repaired exhaust.... if so, I would be looking very closely at the possibility that you knocked something loose. Of course it could be just a coincidence that a component went bad while you were repairing the exhaust. This is a really dumbass question, but, it is something I would be likely to do: did you disconnect the coil wire before starting your repair job and then not replace it? I have done it. Another remote possibility: is there an alarm system in the car? When I first got my '82t it had an active alarm that caused mayhem until I was able to disco it. I'll keep thinking and post if I think of anything.

          Hi CX,
Thanks for the effort. I checked all connections to the coil. The hardest part is the fact that it was running before. Maybe I fouled the plugs. I am going to clean them, check the plug wires and re-evaluate. This guy stopped in a 740 Turbo, just to talk Volvo's so maybe I will call him. I am at a total loss. I have left the coil wire off before, and I am just out of ideas. Thanks again.

          Chad
