does a head gasket failure automatically 900

non turbo, 4 cylinder 93

would you automatically replace the o2 sensor and cat in a car that has had a head gasket failure? mileage was 85,000 whne it failed with white smoke out the tail pipe.

emissions is coming up soon.

the car idles smooth and runs well since repair. would this imply the sensor and cat are ok?

The O2 sensor, yes, since many brands of antifreeze have silicates in them which poison the sensor. The cat, likely not unless it had been shown to have failed. Replace the gasket and sensor, drive the car, and the cat may clean itself.

after getting this car completely warmed up i checked the voltage on the o2 sensor of this regina FI euipped car.

the voltage fluctuated rapidly between .1 and 1 volt. spending most time in the .4- .8 range

this seems pretty normal to me, as the bosch systems of which i am more familiar have similar reading when they are running well.

based on this would you still change it out?
