Don't remove airbox foam 700

I tore the foam in my 740t's airbox, and on the advice of so many bricksters, I removed the foam from my airbox.
Bad idea.
Now I have a quarter-inch of fine powdered dust in my airbox. I didn't before, and I will promptly be buying another one as soon as I find one.
Granted, I've said I live in a dusty area, but I've moved and only been there two times since September.

Just thought you'd all like to know that the air box foam does indeed serve a purpose.

The foam serves no filtering purpose whatsoever, merely there for noise reduction. Any fine powder will either be caught in the air filter or sit on the bottom of the airbox undisturbed. The disadvantage of leaving the foam in place is clear: it WILL disintegrate over time and clog the air mass meter, an expensive device.

Lot of them never had it to start with, it's not critical. Use a good OEM air filter.

yeah as long as your aren't running a K&N and stick with the stock filter you should be okay. I don't know though, dusty environment may not be the best to leave out your foam, your call.
