M410 clutch fork boot 140-160

Working on gathering all items I need to install a 70 1800 M410 in my 68 144. The M410 1800 bellhousing is missing the clutch fork boot. Not like the B20 bell housing boot which bolts on. This one appears that it would snap in and is smaller. Since that bell housing was only used that one year in the 1800 I wonder what my options are for a boot? Fab something?

Why couldn't you just use a B20 M40/41 bellhousing? I've got a B18 housing on a 1971 M41J and it works just fine (with the correct throwout bearing).

M41/M410 are not compatible... similar in many respects, but the M410 requires a unique bell housing. Furthermore, M410 from a 164 won't work on a 4 cylinder engine even with the correct bellhousing.

They are rather oddballs for 4 cylinder cars indeed, and not necessarily any better than a M41.

I was looking over some parts diagrams. I can up with 3 numbers for the fork boot so far. Not sure if I'm correct but this is how it looks to me. GCP still shows pricing for all but the 1800 m410 boot.

      680096 - boot used in the 70 1800 using the M410.
687338 - B20 bell housing with bolt on boot.
677465 - B18 bell housing maybe that didn't bolt on.

The 680096 and 677465 look similiar from the pictures. I think what I found on ebay will be the 677465. Will see how it works as I might not have a choice. I do have a spare B20 bell housing with boot that bolts on. Going to see what number is on the boot to see if it matches up with what I have dug up.

not surprised they don't show a price for a part that must be in pretty low demand...

I just looked at my spare M410 (for a B20)... that boot that's there doesn't look like it would necessarily do much... the one on mine is all warped out of shape and doesn't seal against the face very well anyhow.

Were I you, I think I'd try to modify one from a M41... don't know what that one looks like, but.. if it bolts on, it might work better if you could just drill/tap some holes.

or... how about finding perhaps some sort of shifter boot that you could bolt on... leather would be fine too... for that matter, I think them boots are rather pointless anyhow unless you drive a lot on dirt roads...
