I have consulted my various resources to see if I can find out the difference between the rear fender trim strip on a wagon vs 2 door and 4 door sedans. I suspect that there is a unique rear fender trim strip for a wagon (part 662656). I have a set of trim strips that I believe to be from a 4 door sedan. My wagon has some after-market trim strip fitted and I eventually want to fit the proper stainless trim strip. I hold the strips up against the wagon and against my 4 door sedan restoration project and as far as I can see, they would work on either. The only difference would be that the gap from the end of the trim strip to the tail light would be slightly greater on the wagon.

Does anyone know the exact difference between a wagon rear fender trim strip and a 4 door sedan rear fender trim strip. I am guessing the wagon trim strip is about 2" longer.

The wagon has a rear trim strip that measures 43cm. The trip strip on my sedan measures just a hair over 39cm.

I have seen them available from various sources. Unfortunately none of them in New Zealand, so shipping will no doubt double the price. What I'd really like to know is how long the rear fender trim strip should be on a wagon vs a 4 door sedan and has anyone used the sedan rear trim on a wagon.

I have a full set of trim strips from a 4 door sedan. I don't have the two longer ones for the rear fenders on my wagon. If the difference in length is only an inch, I doubt anyone would notice.

That will be great Shannon, thanks. No hurry, I won't be fitting the strips for a while. It will just be good to know so that I can decide if it is worth trying to find some of the longer wagon ones.

For a day job, I do design work for a stainless steel fabricator so I might cut and stretch the standard ones with some fill pieces from a dented up spare door trim strip. We have some great skilled tradesmen who could TIG weld and polish these so you would never know. I might need to make up a copper backing bar to make the welding easier.

As you say, the front 3 trims on the 4 door sedan and wagon are the same, The 2 door and wagon rears have different numbers. Should be easy to cut down a 2 door rear one to fit the wagon if you can't find the proper one. The cut end would just need a small tweak with a pair grips to make an end "cap". As the trim is stainless steel it responds well to some gentle panel beating to get the dents out, followed by progessively finer grades of wet'n dry, before some final polishing. Results can be very satisfying. I don't know if it still is, but this trim was still available from Volvo not too long ago at a very reasonable price. Throw the numbers at your local dealer to see if they can get them.

Do you know how long the rear trim strips are on a wagon? Amazons are light on the ground in NZ so it is a struggle to find another wagon to measure.

I am picking that the shorter rear trim from a 4 door sedan would still look OK on a wagon. Has anyone had any first hand experience of this?

I have a 2-door and a wagon, so I can't make a comparison for you.

However, I recall reading that the Amazon wagon is approximately 1" longer than the 4-door sedan, plus they share the same fenders and doors, so I doubt you will see any serious differences.
