Question for anyone who experienced Air bag deployment In Early Model Volvos

In the accident I just had with my 89 volvo 760 Turbo the airbag deployed. The cabin immediately filled with smoke, which really irritated my lungs. I remember reading that the crash sensors were gun power charged Is the air bag also gun powder? And aren’t the new ones Co2? If any one else has experienced it I’m interested to hear about your experience especially if you had a bad reaction to the propellant. I was a heavy smoker for 15 years which I’m sure didn’t help, but man that stuff was nasty.

Question for anyone who experienced Air bag deployment In Early Model Volvos

I have never experienced it and I am not sure Volvo used sodium azide but if they did, as did most manufacturers for several years, it is nasty.
