Trim Repair advice 200

Over time the plastic clips that hold the door and trunk trim get brittle, break and the trim begins to hang. I used to think that I had to buy new trim sections, the clips looked integral to the trim. I discovered today that the clips can be purchased for $1.50 each. I just slid the broken clip on the trim so they are out of the way and insert the new clips in locations to line up with the holes. I have previously unnecessarily purchased used trim not knowing the clips could be purchased. Don't make the same mistake I did.

Excellent info! I believe FCP Groton carries the clips as well as the stealership. I found that out after sitting on the driver side bottom door opening and snapping the clips on the rocker panel trim.

Also, if you install trim that is missing a clip or two, make sure you plug the holes that you don't use, otherwise, water will find its way into the interior. Went to help someone in a 245 swap a flat tire in December and quickly found that the spare tire was frozen into the well as it had filled up with water. I got the spare out with a hammer but that rear quarter panel will never be the same....
