Who can ignore a "test'? 444-544

Tony,

I'm glad I ignored the "ignore", and glad to see your avatar picture is back.

Please let us know how you did it, as I'd like to see my old V8 up there again.
It's still in the Gallery [/IMAGELIB/images/4608.jpg] but has been missing from
my profile (and hence here I guess) for some time.

Yes, I figure that the web admin must have changed the base URL associated with the avatar thus breaking the display of them. I had to upload the pic to my website then use the absolute URL in the path. Seems to have corrected it nicely.

Regards,

What he *likley* did 444-544

I found that in order to bring your avatar shot back, or to post *any* images in the forum, you have to provide a real, absolute web location. That is, you have to specify an absolute (e.g. http://www.brickboard.com/gallery/image.jpg) not a relative (e.g. /gallery/image.jpg) location.

To fix your avatar find the image you want and paste the entire web location into your user-id image slot on your profile.

Thanks, I see that's now the case.

But up until it disappeared (a few months ago), my avatar came directly from the gallery, not from a web address. Not a big deal, but puzzling to us Densa members.

I've noticed that myself. I changed nothing but suddenly my imagery ceased to appear. I suspect it was a change of some sort on the server-side of things. My best guess is that it was a change of file permissions, folder names or a re-location of the images so that the old relative links were no longer valid.

I'm not an internet guru, but I did maintain my own web server for some time and these problems would crop up suddenly from minor maintenance procedures or from seemingly minor updates.

Has anyone actually asked the admin(s) what is going one?
