If you want real world comparisons, friends of mine bought a used v70 within about 3 months of us. Our cars were actually the same year, within 15k miles of eachother. Hell, they even had the same color exterior/interior color schemes (blue/tan). Living down the street from them I can say that their car spent just as much time in the shop as ours (though their wife says their spent more time getting fixed). And when I looked up the v70 and v90 of that era in Consumer Reports used car guide, neither vehicle even scored an "average" reliability rating. So it's great that you may have fond opinions/experiences with your 850, but please spare Kenner the admonishment that he should have bought one car instead of the other. Either car would be over 10 years old and the used market at that age is a complete crap shoot.
I bought mine in 2005 with 70,000 miles, cracked leather seats, a good stereo, shiny paint, clean carpets, a few parking lot scratches, and third row for $6,000. Do you think that I care if a bulb in the shifter is burned out? Heck no! At that price, I can count one click for reverse and two more for drive. For me, the engine runs fine, the transmission shifts real smooth, I don't have to worry about CV joints, the brakes don't chatter, etc. Life is good. I'm not going to sweat the little stuff, just run the car till she dies a big smoky death.
Until then, you enjoy your ride, and I will enjoy mine. :)
