Squeaking clutch pedal 89 240 200 1989

When I step on the clutch pedal I hear a sqeak and it's driving me nuts. But I don't think it's the pedal but maybe the clutch cable. Anyway both are buried and was wondering how I might approach this.

The car's a 1989 Volvo 240, 5-speed.

Up under dash- clutch pedal has a pivot where cable attaches that can squeak. Lube with your favorite lightweight grease or oil. Enjoy silence.
