Ignition Lock removal

Hi,

My lock is malfunctioning and I keep tearing keys - luckily I have not snapped one in the lock yet!

I understand that to remove the lock you need to put the key in position 1, then press the little button/pin on the back of the lock housing and then pull the lock out.

I'm really struggling pushing the button/pin in. Should it be stiff - any top tips for getting this to work in reality?

Failing that how would I drill the lock out without damaging the housing?

Thanks

Wiggle the key, and wobble the steering wheel gently from side to side as you try to push in the pin. Also try it with the key in position II ("on") as well as position I ("accessory") You should be doing this with the battery disconnected.

It might be helpful to know the year and model.

        Still no joy.

I can't get the key past position 1 and the pin on the back refuses to be pushed in - despite persuasion.

I think I'm going to have to drill the barrel out. Any tips on doing this without ruining the housing the barrel sits in?
