Damn wires 200

I went cheap on a replacement set of ignition wires back in december. As of two nights ago she was running strong. Yesterday with the rain was a different story. Come quitting time She would turn over with out a even a slight chance of catching. Went through my routine and decided to go to plan B. My co worker laughed and said he thought I was already way passed B. Plan B was a couple gallons of fuel. By the time we got back it was dusk and thats when I noticed that my replacement wires were arcing any where they could. Changed out a couple and made it home.
Long story short, I would have not thought the wires would cause the no start symptoms that they did, just an fyi .

did you put di electric grease (its called) on the distributor , (where the wires go on) and coat the wires too and at the coil too and volvo recomends it on the wires themselves , well they recomend silicone grease , this happened to me once-- a dirty dist. cap makes it real bad because the moist dirt can cause shorts, auto zone has little packets of it on the front counter for 1.00?

Didn't think to put some lube on the wires, that will be tomorrows project.I do use some grease on the fuses but the corrosion seems to win that battle.
