Leaking Car 700 1992

Hello All. I know this topic has SEVERAL ( and by several i mean hundreds of replys and threads and a well covered section in the FAQ. ) theories and answers but i have run out of ideas. AFTER spending my 8 hour work day searching the boards for thoughts on a leaking car i discovered the "oval black vent seal next to the brake" thought and went ERUKA! that must be it...

This is my problem.. After a whole day of heavy rain my car has approx. 2" of water on the drivers side front and rear seating areas. I have repeatedly used the "hanger method" "compressed air method" and whatever else i could think of to check the sun roof for leaking... SOMETIMES when i go to an Auto Car wash the edge of the headliner gets wet.. but not a on a regular basis. i think that after my car was rear ended and the sunroof doesnt sit flush has something to do with that but as i have read that seal isnt 100% water proof anyways... SO i believe that the sunroof is not my problem. I had a replaced windshield done in late spring to early summer not sure when but i believe that rules out that problem as the leaking was happening WAY WAY WAY before that was replaced and it still does it.

When i read about the vent located in the foot well i tore it apart today and the wet carpet seems to start getting wet at the base of the vent. So to test this theory i poured some water down the Air vent in the hood to see if that is in fact leaking but saw nothing..The water came out of the same drain or so i thought where the sunroof drains... SO my question after all this is... Could this be happening only when it rains so hard and soooo much that the drain down there cannot keep up? IF so.. maybe that drain is semi clogged..... the mesh grate type stuff that keeps stuff outta the air vent is starting to fall so i thought that would allow more debris and stuff in there..

I know this topic has been covered severly and i have been dealing with the leak for approx. 4 years now.. i have tried everything i can think of but alas i turn to you brickers....

P.S. I read a post about replacement carpet from a shop in Rockville, MD, i cant find that post again and if you know of this shop please let me know.. as i will need to replace them..

Open the trunk and check to make sure the the plasic drain hose up by the trunk lid hinge is still connected properly. One time I had the carpet out of my trunk and I forgot to re-connect that hose. It rained like crazy that night and I found the LH foot wells full of water.

On my 740, water was running in through the rubber bellows, which was split, between the door and body, where the wiring runs.
    Duct tape to the rescue!

The front windshield shifted on mine causing water to come in on the passenger side which eventually flowed to the passenger rear. I used FLOWABLE silicone and squeezed it into the openings along the outer and upper windshield ares. That cured the leaks I had.
