PS Pulley Difficult to Pull Off 200

I got a rebuilt PS pump (316k mi on the old one and it finally started making noise), but it came without the pulley. Pulling the pulley from the old pump has turned out to be an impossible task. Of 4 different sets of jaw pullers, none can get right in there to grab the lip around the shaft (settle down Beavis) you're supposed to use to do this. It's a bad combination of bad angle and small lip. I was even going to ground one of the puller jaws down for clearance to see if that worked, but after careful consideration, I'd probably just have a jaw fail.

So, WTF is up with this? Anybody have a successful go at pulling this thing off? I had an extra PS pump with a bad bearing that I tried pressing off, mostly just in anger and frustration, but that's no good because the pulley is rolled/stamped and you just end up crushing the wrong parts.

Any ideas are appreciated. Otherwise I'll be visiting a bunch of machine shops.

Or you can buy the puller at Autozone for like $20. I think you need the one for Ford/Saginaw PS system. Works like a champ. A jaw type puller will bend the pully.

Yeah, I guess I'm an idiot and I finally got the right thing at Autozone. Apparently, it depends on which Autozone you go to. They don't all have the same card showing what tools are available. And, of course, the one that has the right "menu" is the one that doesn't have the tool and vice versa. Oh well. A couple of trips around town solved that. I have the right thing now.

Amazing that I have no fear changing synchros in M45's, changing turbos and redoing all the lines and exhaust to accommodate the new housing, and other stuff like that, but I can't figure out a simple pulley. Mongo angry. Must smash pulley with bigger rock.

Thanks for your help.

Hmmm, Mongo angry been there... too close to camp fire after eating beans. Mongo did get away with a slotted steel plate to support the pulley lip and then used pneumatic high speed rock (air chisel) on the shaft... mongo got lucky, pulley no bend and pump not catch fire. Pump fell and hit foot though... Mongo angry.

If that's the 2/3 jaw puller made by "OEM" (real original name), then I already have it and it didn't work, in either a 2 or 3 jaw configuration (with a lot of tweaking). But I'll see if they have another puller.
