My rear bumper was missing the large clips that hold the bumper cover at the edges. I just went to Ace and bought some 1/8" aluminum pop rivets. I put them evenly across the bottom of the bumper using existing mold marks in the plastic to guide me. I was replacing the center bumper molding trim piece at the same time and put some under there too to flatten out the bumper cover. I had a spot or two that was bulging up. With the trim on, you don't see the rivets and the ones on the bottom look original if you didn't know better and only if you are under the car. It's the little fix up projects that make an old car look nice.
The trick to installing the molding clip is to take the metal clip part out of the plastic part of the clip. Now install the metal part of the clip to the molding and install plastic part to the body of the car. Make sure they all line up to each other. Now slide the molding down over the plastic clips that are already on the car, catching those with the metal clips that are already on the molding. If you try to put the whole clip into the body of the car and then try and push the molding down into the metal clip, they will pull out of the body. You'll see what I mean when you try to do this little task. Even done the correct way, it is a little tricky to get the metal clips to slip into the plastic clips.
