Hey Guys,
A while back I posted about mayo, white crap on my dipstick on my S90, no coolant loss, and nothing under the oil cap. Well I just replaced the dipstick seals (one going into the block and on the dipstick itself. I think that was the problem, even the dealer where I bought the seals told me they change them from time to time, so I guess a little bit of water was entering in that area and causing the mayo when mixed with oil. It was a small amount but these seals are all wierd over time and harden up.
Second thing I fixed was the Alternator. The bearing was making a bit of noise and this is a $600 alternator from the dealer so I wanted to fix it before it completly busted. I took it all apart and the bearings were pressed in so I got a shop to do that part and they turned the comm and put new brushes in. $120, so a lot cheaper than a rebuilt/new alternator. These are Canadian prices btw
Whenever you do work like this you find other things wrong hehe. The ball joints have a torn boot and the control arm bushings look like they are torn a bit, so I will have to do that stuff in the near future. I can get just the bushings and then press them in myself, instead of the entire control arm. Has anyone here done the bushings? The ball joint looks easy to replace. I suppose the hardest part is pressing out the old bushings.
That is all for now!
