K- jet intake hose recurring tear 200 1989

Hi folks,

IIRC there's a quite a few k-jet owners on brickboard and was wondering if anyone have faced a similar issue as I am.

I have a k-jet engine in a 740 (non-US) but I think the layout is the same as that in the 240. My intake hose keeps getting a tear on the belly. So far I've had to replace it twice and repair the hole a couple of times. It is due to rubbing against the surrounding hoses.

I've a couple of ideas given in another volvo forum. Was hoping if anyone here have found a permanent solution to this?

Thanks

K- jet intake hose recurring tear 200 1989

I had an '80 240 with the k-Jet and don't remember any problems with the air hose wearing through. If you have had this happen twice, I'd be thinking that the engine is moving around too much. Have you checked to see if you have one or more broken or soft engine mounts? Don't forget the transmission mount too.

Another idea is that the surrounding hose you mention are not installed correctly. Could these be moved so as not to touch the air hose?
