Oil light will turn on for one second when I accelerate in gear one 200

Recently, I found that the oil light will turn on for one second when I accelerate in gear one .

My car leak oil from some where and I put half bottle oil into engine and checked the oil level.

After that, I found the oil light still keep turn on when I accelerate in gear one.

My car is1986 245 with M46+OD, around 135K mileage

Any idea?

Thanks.

Check the oil level and make sure that it is correct and then check the oil pressure sending unit wire to make sure that it is not grounding out when you accelerate and causing the light to come on. If it is I suggest that you replace the entire wire from where it goes onto the sender all the way up to the pole connector at the fire wall. I usually route them up through the right strut tower and along the firewall rather than try to fight it back under the crank dampner and under the intake mani.

mark,

the oil sender unit wire gounding is my guess also like rules. my 89 automatic did/ and is doing the on/off flashing of warning light even though level correct. it does it on acceleration in 3rd. the insulation on wires is frayed and when they touch, light comes on. at -20, i'm in no hurry to fix. just make sure oil level good.
