Where is the rear shock absorber upper mount ? 700 1990

In a 1990 740 sedan (178k) where is the upper mount for the rear shock absorbers ? It appears to be under the rear seat cushion. Is this right? Does that pop out? Thanks for your help.

Also I cannot find a Haynes or Chiltons for this model.I'm guessing that the model is covered by their 240 editions. Anyone have or recommend a manual for Volvos of this age?

    I was prepared to take the seat out as I will have to do for the 1999 V 70 , my first Volvo lemon. But I poked a weeding tool in there and sure enough, hidden by the under coat, was a spot that didn't ring like metal just above the tire. Thanks

    Like the other Mark said it a little rubber plug cover by dirt or the black undercoating.

    easier to see with wheel off.

    Look in the wheel well area, right above the top of the tire you will see a rubber body plug, pull the plug out and look in there.
