There is a totalled pre-86 Volvo 2-DR 240 sedan behind a repair shop in my neighborhood. The driver seat is in good condition but has a trapezoidal shaped head rest.
The lean-forward front seats from a 242 are rare birds. Snag them at the least, and maybe make money on eBay. Use the $$$ to buy new foam for your '89. IPD used to sell foam, dunno if they still do. Not cheap.
Check the scraper moldings (rubber that seals the body to the window glass. That is another rare part, will bring in some cash.
Check out the exhaust. If the car is a turbo, it will be a larger diameter than the stock 2-inch diameter. I put a cat-back 2ΒΌ-inch all-one-welded-piece on my 1986 244. Tricky to get it to fit, loud, but lotsa fun and maybe a little more power.
Check also the sway bars. Measure their diameter. They will fit your 240. Get the bars, and the bushings and endlinks on the front, the stock ones are not quite right.
Again, if the car is a turbo, check out the rims. They might be the "Virgo" 15-inch type. Keep them for your car. If a turbo, it will have a lot of additional gauges. Get them all, and especially get the sender for the oil pressure gauge. Keep the voltmeter for yourself, sell the rest.
Good Luck,
Bob
