Question about temp 200

I have a 1989 240DL

My temperature gauge only seems to go up a quarter of an inch then stops. I bang on the dash or flick the cluster hard and then it climbs to 9 o’clock where it should be.

I just replaced the big clock with a tach and that went fine…now the temp gauge moves up less than an 1/8 of and inch and will not climb any higher. Obviously I messed something up but my question is…

All and all should I look for a new replacement gauge or is there another issue also with it that might need looking into based on my first comment?

Thanks ALL!!!

You need to remove the temperature compensation board and install a jumper. The image shows a wire soldered in but you can simply remove the board (leave the gauge in place) and take a short section (1 1/4")of regular stranded lamp cord and press one end over pin 1 and the other over pin 3.
