Still confused about refitting front bumper plastic on '91 940 wagon 900

I've read various threads about refitting the plastic sides of my front bumper back in their tracks, but am still confused. After spending some time underneath, it seems like the easiest way is to simply remove the 6 nuts on the shocks and pull it forward so the side flaps can be put back in their tracks. Is there a better way?

Thanks,
Bill

Dear Bill,

Good a.m. and may this find you well. No, there is no other way.

The bumper is heavy. Before you loosen the bolts - that attach the bumper to the shocks - put supports under the bumper. You can use milk crates, blocks of styrofoam, or even a couple of heavy-duty cardboard boxes to support the bumper.

If you find that the on-bumper anchor points have come loose from the bumper shell, search through my posts, and you'll find a detailed method for re-attaching the on-bumper anchor points.

The tracks mounted on the fender are pretty sturdy.

Hope this helps.

Yours faithfully,

spook

Thanks, Spook, for the confirmation on what needs to be done. I saw your other message about reattaching the track to the shell, but thankfully mine are still solid.

Cheers,
Bill
