Trying to find a new rear brake line for my '58 444. Any suggestions? Also, does anyone know the proper diameters and length of the rear brake line?

    If you mean the flexible line, they are the same as the rears for the 122 series (as are the fronts of the 444s). If the hard line, any good shop or parts store should be able to reproduce what you need, (though they may need to use your hardware "ends").

      Sorry. Yes, I actually meant the hard line which runs from the master brake cylinder to the "t" union at the rear axle. It is much longer than anything available at the common auto parts stores from what I have found and I'd rather not join two lines together.

      If I could get the "proper" dimensions (inner, outer, length) I could bring these with me to a specialist shop to fabricate a new line.

        Ah So! I see, next time I am under there (which won't be too long the way things have been going) I will try to get some measurements off mine. My 444 Parts manual lists all hard lines as 3/16" steel but does not give a specific length for the one in question.

          Hello,

          Bulk 3/16 steel and stainless steel brake line is available.

          I have found a supplier who has 20' straight pieces at a ridiculously high price due to shipping costs or I stock 20' rolls of stainless brake line for $40.00 or a 25' roll of regular steel tubing for $30.00.

          You have to cut and flare yourself.
