Rough running, No Idle, Very fuel Rich, ECT? FPR? 700

Hi,

Just picked up this car.
1989/90 740 GLE - Has a B234F in it.

Getting too much fuel. Throttle body is wet, plugs are wet.
Sounds like it is firing on 3 cyl, though i have checked that.
Fuel smoke. Rough running seems to be throughout the RPM range.

Been reading through the FAQ's

Just a bit lost on what i should try first.
The ECT or the FPR.

Thanks in advance

Update:Rough running, No Idle, Very fuel Rich, ECT? FPR? 700

Just wraped all vacuum hoses - to make sure that everything is sealed.
Re-earthed injector ground. Found a strap loose from the firewall.
Reconnected it to the rocker cover.

Now the car wont start at all. (this happened after regrounding injectors)
cranks great.
Fuel is there. spark is there.

I think it may be the rpm sensor, sending the timing out of whack.

any ideas?

UPDATE: Rough running, No Idle, Very fuel Rich, Exhaust Smoke 700

- Changed the ECT sensor (seemed to help)
- Change the FPR.
- Checked the AMM (Okay)
- Cleaned TB & IAC valve.
- Re-adjusted the TPS.
- Check for Vacume leaks. Thought head one from the main Airbox - TB hose. So I taped it up.
- Clean the flame trap. (seemed to be okay)
- New Plugs
- New Fuel Filter

Excellent Spark & all injectors are good.

Car seems to run better (not right, though) when i unplug the Carbon Check valve. (option extra aparently)

Sounds like the timing is out. Should i change the Crank Angle sensor (Impulse sensor / RPM Sensor)

Going to look for more vacume leaks tonight. Any hoses, I should pay special attention too?

It actually runs now, doesnt stall.
Still rough & Very rich. Smoking big time.

Also, I snapped the handbrake cable at the handbrake end. Anyone have any experience changing these?

Remove the vacuum line going to the regulator. If there's any gas in it then the regulator's bad. Or you can try pinching off the hose and see if it run's better.

Check the AMM. Mine kinda did the same thing and it started all of a sudden.
