BTW the regulator is a replacement for a 1800.thank for any help, mike

    hey mike,

unfortunately I can't tell you how to do it, and I'm remembering others have been vague on the details here before.

This was a constant thorn in my side when I first got my car. The alternator I happened to have (el cheapo Chevy one) never played well with the voltage regulator I had. As a result the alternator never properly charged the battery and I was constantly recharging my battery on the trickle charger every night.

I finally gave up and took my car in to "the Swede" (actual name he goes by) in Portland, OR to hook me up with a 55 amp Bosch alternator with internal voltage regulator he described as "bomb proof." I'm sorry I don't have more of the details on the particular alternator.

What is the brand of yours?

    good luck

    belinda

I think the alternator you want is for a 75 240 with B20F engine. These have are 55 amp, have an internal regulator, and bolt right on to a B20 block, and possibly some late B18s as well.

I could swear there was a recent post regarding this same topic. I think I remember reading that the voltage regulator is included in the alternator and could be bypassed if desired, however, I could be wrong. Please search previous threads for possible assistance.

    Good luck!
