Thanks, S.P.H. I finally got it in. Turns out that the lower compressor lugs are set differently on the used 92 compressor I got to replace the one in my 88 240.
Once moved to match the old setup ,it dropped in fine. Thanks ,again, larry

just went out to the car. no more battery power after these three.


1= power steering bracket on pump & bolt

2=bolt at corner of a/c compressor, note MOUNTING bracket behind is attached to the compressor, there is a nut on back of that bolt which goes through ANOTHER bracket

3=this is the OTHER bracket for the compressor, it's slotted so you can adjust the body of the compressor

4= there is a nut & bolt, i think 12mm on one side 13mm on the other, it's tucked up in there



A= a/c adjusting bolt

B=bolt on the rear corner of a/c compressor

C=the bolt/nut tucked up under the main a/c bracket on the block

D= power steering pump bracket



I= port on back of compressor

II= view of the bolt (from the rear) that is tucked up under the main bracket
