Return of 'Bad VOLVO! No start when hot... '91 240' 200 1991

So the problem persists.

Symptoms: Car will not start after having been driven. Seems to be heat related. Engine turns over but fire. Fuel pumps run (i actually changed out both pumps and the relay in Febuary). Once it cools down it starts right up.

I have changed the CPS and the Power Stage. This I believe leaves the ECU or the coil as possible ignition problem.

I have the 561 I can't remember if it is a white or pink label.

In the interest of full disclosure I do have some pretty leaky front seals. I am actually going to change them out tomorrow. I doubt that these could be part of this problem but I have been wrong in the past. I have changed the fire trap in the past and just the other day cleaned the throttle body.

So I guess I will be going to the junk yard and getting a 951...

Advice? Comments?

I did not check that... though I am still pretty fixed on it being an ignition problem.

One other detail I do want to include is that the idle doesn't feel quite as strong as it seems it should in the past, air conditioning doesn't bump it quite like it should feel. Acceleration and over all drivability seem are normal.

"...I am still pretty fixed on it being an ignition problem."

Youve already changed the CP and power stage, the commonly known failure components in the Ignition system.

I agree with "aswede" and urge you find out if your new Main pump came with a check valve installed in the outlet fitting. It's the only part whose sole purpose is to "aid hot starts", by keeping up enough pressure to prevent fuel boiling in the fuel rail, and the resultant vapor lock.

Dude, you make an extremely valid point. I will do that next.

After last February's fuel system fun, I can do it in about 15 minutes. I will have to source a check valve.

Thanks ya'll

When you changed your fuel pump, did you replace the check valve attached to the main pump? When bad, they can cause some hot start issues. When in no start mode, does the car not have spark?
