...these were typically used with the earlier (skinny) air filters...located between air filter and front (SU)carb, they allowed for a filtered air source connection for the oil filler cap...I think...I'm trying to help a Volvoniacs forum memeber (who it sounds like) has a PCV hookup problem.

Corrections to my recollection, if not quite right, accepted.

    Ron these are the best pictures I can come up with. The Green Book calls it the "intermediate piece". The parts list calls it a "center section".
