Battery opinions

What is a good battery for my brick? Given, I don't have access to a Costco. But the majors like Wal-Mart and Sears and all the big name Auto Parts stores, are everywhere. I live in a fairly cold climate so, what is that cold crank amps(?) that i should look for. As always, cheapness (i am a Volvo owner) and reliability are key.

Try the ones made by East Penn. They are sometimes sold under the name Deka. Super life and quality.

ANSWER Battery opinions

Go with wal-mart now that your volvo's a ford it should be a perfect fit. Buy the premium line though, I think it is yellow. I personally don't trust Sears. The best, I think, is an Interstate, but I think you can only by them from a garage. Napa premium line would be among the best as well; they would at least be able to tell you what the very best battery that would fit your car is, maybe. Remember that you don't have to go by their guide on what will fit. It is all about what size will fit in your battery pan and on what side the + & - terminals are on/you can always go taller if it doesn't hit the hood.

I did go with Wal-Mart and got the EverStart basic battery. I saw the yellow ones but didn't know it was even an option. Good job selling me up, Wal-Mart dude! Anyways, it's a little smaller than what was once there, and what the tray is. But, it is probably a little lighter, too. It works fine, and was only 50 bones. I have yet to see how it starts in Wisconsin Winters, but I trust that Johnson Controls knows a thing or two about our coldness. If it craps, I'll try to upgrade w/the yellow one, as long as it's not a deep cycle or anything. Seems like a good fit however, it slides right into the grooves and I had to screw in a makeshift piece of metal to hold it in. So far so good. Thanks everyone.

I bought an energizer with an 8.3 year (100 month) pro-rate warranty. Also has replacement within the first 3 years if it fails. How cold is the climate you mean? Here, it varies from as low as 30F to as high as 114F.
I've run it completely dead 3 times since I bought it... about 4 years ago, without any problems. I can leave my interior light on all night and it starts without any issues.

The amp ratings rubbed off with the gunk that had accumulated on it.
I think it was 1050 regular and 875 CCA but I would have to check the receipt. Might have been 850 and 675. Either way, you might check it out.
Also made by johnson controls.

Wally World's batteries are reportedly made by Johnson Controls, which makes them just swell. And they will only have a battery that is suitable for your climate. I'm thinking in the neighborhood of 600CCA.
