When you are looking at the different models in the JY note that the tilt wheels are nice but they won't fit on the non tilt steering collum. I found out the hard way after paying for one, and a no refund policy.
The Chilton manual goes into detail about working near the air bag and steering collum.

Good p.m. and may this find you well. If you have a 945, a steering wheel from a 960 will not work, as the airbag is a different shape. A steering wheel from a 240 series car also will not work in a 940 car, for the same reason.

Any 940 (sedan) or 945 (wagon) steering wheel should work, as will 740/745 steering wheels, if from 1990 or later models.

DEATH DANGER WARNING: Before trying to remove the airbag, remove the negative battery cable clamp from the battery terminal, and put the clamp in a plastic bag, to isolate it. This cuts power supply to the SRS (Airbag) System. An airbag deployment at close quarters can be lethal. It will also be costly: a new sensor is about $1,200. A new airbag is about the same.

You should get/read the Volvo Tech Manual dealing with the SRS System, before trying to change a steering wheel. This manual explains how to remove the airbag, and how to remove the steering wheel.
