PV 445 Pictures 444-544

Hi,
I have some pictures of my '59 PV 445 that I would like to post. I would also like to modify my user account by adding a picture and other information about myself, my cars and my dog.
I have tried and tried to no avail.
I have seen pictures by others posted successfully so I know it can be done.
Is something wrong with my account or am I doing something wrong.
I don't generally have a problem posting pictures on other websites.
I would address this question to Jarrod but I am not sure how to do this.
Am I overlooking something? Is there an e-mail address or something?
Thanks.

In order to change your profile information, you can click on the link that says "Welcome back, [your user name]." in the white box in the upper right hand corner of this website. This will take you to a page which will allow you to change your alias, name, email, etc. You should also be able to upload pictures from there. Where it says "picture url", click on the link that says "upload an image". Then just find the file on your hard drive and give it a title, description, and category, and hit the "submit my image" button. This *should* work, but I haven't tried it in awhile.

In order to post a photo here, it will need to be uploaded and hosted somewhere on the internet (*see more details below). If it is hosted on the Brickboard, you can copy and paste the address from the page where you edited your user info profile. If not, you may have to copy and paste the address from your browser address bar when you are viewing the image. Once the image is on the internet and you know the address where it is located, you will just need to type out some HTML code in order to share/publish it here or on another website.

For example, if you have a picture whose web address (URL) is: http://ljpics.somethingsquare.com/temp/volvo/reverse-lights.JPG

Then you would type:
<img src="http://ljpics.somethingsquare.com/temp/volvo/reverse-lights.JPG">

Which would display:

There are other options that you can specify, but that is the simplest bare-bones method for sharing the picture.

A couple options for uploading/hosting your images:

Your question seemed like a good opportunity to share this: http://roundfender.somethingsquare.com/
That link takes you to a gallery that I have set up--primarily for other PV owners on this forum--where you can upload photos to a personal gallery and then share them here and (possibly) other websites. There are lots of options that can be tweaked and configured, depending on what the users want, but right now I'm the only one using it yet.

If you would like a place with practically unlimited (10,000 photos) space for hosting pictures, photobucket [http://photobucket.com/] seems very popular, as long as you don't need to share the photos in high-resolution format.

Hi,
Beautiful car!
Nice pictures in your gallery.
Wow.

Thanks for the advise.
Its weird, when I hit the "submit change" button the changes that I have made to my profile don't take.

That does seem kind of strange. Are you using Internet Explorer as your web browser? I wonder if it is caching the page and then after you've changed the information it still displays the cached copy from your hard drive because it doesn't recognize the changes? If that's not the case then, you may just have to email one of the admins about it.

uploading pics required that the image be under 60kb and that the max dimensions be around 400 px. What had been preventing me from posting for a long time was the default compression algorithm that my image software was using. My jpgs were compressed using a progressive algorithm, while BB only recognized standard/baseline compression. Re-saving the images fixed the problem and I can post images again.

If you use adobe photoshop, it prompts you to set these when you save.

If I may offer you the benefit of learning from my mistake(s): you might do better to go with a smaller drive-train. An inline 4 (2.5-2.5 liter naturally aspirated engine, or perhaps a smaller 2.0L forced induction engine?) might be a better option. Something like a Nissan SR20DET is pretty tempting (2.0L turbocharged, RWD, between 200-250 hp depending on the year), and there's a fair amount of technical and aftermarket support for it now that it's become so popular with the "drifting" scene. I also really like the idea of using a rotary engine, but they tend to get very poor fuel mileage, which might be a concern considering today's gas prices.

Fitting the engine in place was a miracle, and even as it is I could benefit from a larger radiator. Making the transmission tunnel wider also made the interior a bit more cramped, and it's still a royal pain to service the transmission/clutch. Since we used a domestic truck motor, it's geared pretty short and has a lot more torque than I should ever really need. I hope to swap the rear end with a taller gear set when I get around to installing a limited slip differential though.
