Workshop manual for Amazon 120-130

Does anybody know of a GOOD workshop manual that actually covers all the detail for repairs and the variations between models. I have a Haynes Manual that is useless in that all it does is state the obvious.

Thanks God for the swedish volvo owners club; you can download the green handbook (and some complementary guides) free from http://www.volvoamazonpictures.se/documents/Volvo_Amazon_documentation_main_page_en.htm

This post has been marked as an answer to the original question.

Thanks a million for that info Joaquin. I have downloaded the manuals - they are great.

One question - they do not seem to deal with the heater at all. Is this correct or is there one missing?

Thanks again

les

Hi Les,

Some common hardware (common on that time) is not covered by the green handbook, but the parts catalog would be helpful (to see the heater plumbling diagram): http://www.gcp.se/CD2/B20.htm (thanks to Genuine Classic Parts Co. for post it on the web). The heater can be see on the fifth page of accesories ( http://www.gcp.se/CD2/B20/övrigutrustning.pdf ).

Btw, the heater core can be rebuilted on any radiator store (it is a radiator on miniature), also hoses for hot water under pressure is used on some laundry machines and heavy machinary (and available on the related repair shops). The bad part: a new heather valve has a high price, some pals change it with a ball manual valve (from a plumber store). Also, if you has access to junkyards on your city, used volvo 141 and 240 heater valves can be adapted with a bit of ingenuity.

Que te diviertas! (Have fun!).

The factory green manual is what you want. The one for the 122 comes in about
11 sections that fit in a looseleaf binder. They show up on ebay from time
to time.

In many areas the “green bible” leaves a lot of detail unsaid, but it is indispensable nevertheless. I picked up a copy on eBay on CD from a fellow in Poland. It’s in English and includes the latter models (’69 – ’70), those with things like dual circuit brakes. Being on CD makes it handy to search but I find myself printing the odd page to take into the shop.
If you’re interested in this CD version, let me know and I’ll dig out the reference. And I strongly support Cam’s advice to post your questions here. This board has been a tremendous help to me.

Cheers,

Barry

I bought the CD from the same guy. Well worth it in my opinion...

I second obtaining the Volvo "green bible". These do show up occassionally on eBay. As you know, there were 3 variations of the Amazon, so I suspect Volvo had 3 separate manuals - mine is for the 6 volt, B16B P1200. Another helpful suggestion is to buy a parts catalogue for your model. I find the parts explosion diagrams are helpful in making repairs. The other alternative is posting your questions here. I did document the restoration of my Amazon-S starting in 2000 and this can be found by linking to my home page. Good luck.
