965 wagon glass replacement 900 1997

Wise ones:

Need some advice. 1997 960 Wagon attracted a lacrosse ball through the left rear ¼-panel window (the fixed glass on the driver’s side of the cargo area). A discount glass company came with replacement glass, but discovered the gasket was bonded to the old glass. They can get the glass, but can’t get the gasket or gasket/glass assembly – even from the local dealer. Found a junkyard about 200 miles away, but they could not get the glass/gasket off without ruining the gasket.
Is this bonded-to-the-glass thing something unique for the 1997/1998 year to fix a leak problem? Is the dealer or installer just incompetent? I started off trying to get glass with the antenna like the original, but now I just want to close the hole….It’s hard to believe there is no way to repair a car that is only 9 years out of production. Anyone have experience with this or ideas for what I can do?

I’ve posted a duplicate on the V90 board too.

Thanks,

Mike

    965 wagon glass replacement 900 1997

I'll be interested to hear what others may say about this. I have a used 960 wagon and the gaskets in the rear look funky - there's been some replacement.
